What we believe

‘I still have many things to say to you,

but you cannot bear them now.

However, when He,

the Spirit of truth, has come,

He will guide you into all truth;

for He will not speak on His own authority,

but whatever He hears He will speak;

and He will tell you things to come.’

(John 16:12-13, NKJV)

THE HOLY SCRIPTURES

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. We believe the Bible is inerrant in its original languages of Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. We believe the Bible is the infallible guide to all our doctrines, and to how we live our lives.

(2 Tim 3:16; 1 Thess 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21; Matt 4:4)

THE TRIUNE GOD

We believe that God is One, but manifested in three Persons. We believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one goes to the Father except through Him.

(John 1:1-5; Phil 2:6; John 14:6, 16-17, 26-28; John 15:26)

THE FALL OF MAN, AND HIS REDEMPTION

We believe that man is a created being, made in God’s image and according to God’s likeness. We believe that all of mankind have sinned and come short of the glory of God. We believe that the only way back to God is through Jesus Christ our Redeemer.

(Gen 1:26-27; Rom 3:23; 1 Peter 1:18-19; Rom 10:9)

THE NEW BIRTH, AND ETERNAL LIFE

We believe that we must be born again in order to enter the kingdom of God. We believe that salvation is freely given by God to the world, and whoever believes in Jesus Christ will not perish but have eternal life. We believe we are saved not by works, but entirely by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

(John 3:3-21; Eph 2:8-10; Rev 21:6; Rev 22:17)

WATER BAPTISM

We believe in the importance of water baptism, because it is a direct commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that water baptism signifies our identification with Jesus Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.

(Matt 28:1; Rom 6:4; Col 2:12; Acts 8:36-39)

BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the importance of being baptised in the Holy Spirit, because our Lord Jesus Christ emphasised the need for us to be endued with power from on high. We believe the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is the gift of speaking in other tongues, as the Holy Spirit Himself gives utterance.

(Matt 3:11; Luke 24:49; John 14:16-18; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:1-21, 38-39)

THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and we believe that God manifests Himself in the varieties of ministries and diversities of activities. We believe the Holy Spirit distributes these supernatural gifts to each one individually as He wills.

(1 Cor 12:1-11; John 14:12; Acts 6:8; Acts 14:3; 1 Cor 2:4-5; 1 Cor 4:10; 2 Cor 12:12)

SANCTIFICATION

We believe in sanctification, and we believe we are continually and progressively being made holy in our daily living by the grace of God. We believe that we have been crucified with Christ, and we believe in bearing our own cross so as to follow Jesus Christ fully.

(Heb 12:14; 1 Thess 5:23-24; 2 Peter 3:17-18; 2 Cor 3:18; Phil 3:12-14; 1 Cor 1:30-31; Luke 14:27; Gal 2:20-21)

HELL AND ETERNAL DAMNATION

We believe in the reality of the lake of fire, and we believe that whoever physically dies in his sins without accepting Jesus Christ is eternally lost in the lake of fire.

(Luke 12:5; Luke 16:19-31; Heb 9:27; Rev 20:11-15)

THE RAPTURE, AND THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST

We believe that when the rapture happens, the dead in Christ shall rise first, and we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them to meet our Lord Jesus Christ in the air. We believe that the rapture is imminent, and we must be sober and alert, eagerly awaiting the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that we must watch and pray always that we are counted worthy to escape the tribulation that will come upon the world after the rapture has taken place.

(Matt 24:36-44; Matt 25:1-13; Luke 17:26-37; Rom 8:22-25; 1 Cor 15:50-55; 1 Thess 4:13-18; 1 Thess 5:1-11; 2 Thess 1:3-8; Luke 21:34-36; Matt 22:1-10; Luke 14:16-27; Luke 15:1-32; Hos 6:2-3; Acts 3:18-21)
