Rom. 10:17, NKJV
You must be born again
Jesus says: ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, “You must be born again.”’ (John 3:5-7, NKJV) What does it mean for a person to be born again?
Unless you repent, you too will perish
‘Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”’ (Luke 13:1-3, NIV) Have you repented?
To dust you shall return
‘In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.’ (Gen. 3:19, NKJV) Has this truth sunk into your heart?
You will certainly die
‘And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”’ (Gen. 2:16-17, NIV) How did the man first die?
How you are fallen from heaven
‘How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations!’ (Isa. 14:12, NKJV) What lesson can we learn from the fall of Lucifer?
What is man? (3)
Jesus says: ‘Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.’ (Matt. 10:28, ESV) What is the soul?
What is man? (2)
‘Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness . . .”’ (Gen. 1:26a, NKJV) What does it mean for man to be made in God’s image and according to God’s likeness?
What is man? (1)
‘What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You care for him?’ (Ps. 8:4, ESV) How well do you know the God who created you?
All flesh is like grass
‘All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.’ (1 Pet. 1:24-25, ESV) If all must one day die, what is the meaning of life?
The resurrection of the dead (3)
‘So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable.’ (1 Cor. 15:42, ESV) What will the imperishable body be like?
The resurrection of the dead (2)
‘And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne . . . And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.’ (Rev 20:12; 15, ESV) If God is love, how can someone be thrown into the lake of fire?
The resurrection of the dead (1)
The apostle Paul says: ‘I have hope in God . . . that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust.’ (Acts 24:15, NKJV) What is the resurrection of the just?
He descended into the lower parts
‘Now this expression, “He ascended,” what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth?’ (Eph. 4:9, NASB) Why did Jesus descend into Hades?
But now you are in anguish
‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish.’ (Luke 16:25, ESV) These are the words of Abraham to a rich man who died and went to Hades. Do you know where you will go after you die?
This night your soul is required of you
In a parable told by Jesus, a rich man says to himself, ‘Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.’ But God says to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ (Luke 12:19-20, ESV) What happens if your soul is required of you tonight?
